Vacation road trip progress

We made it through all of Iowa and pretty much all of Nebraska today.

Iowa was pretty uneventful, besides taking a 45 minute or so detour when “we” missed a highway split and started heading toward Kansas City.

Nebraska was more interesting. About an hour into The Cornhusker State, we noticed a large dark storm just a little North of us. We had the radio on and all the stations warned us that a tornado warning was in effect pretty much right where we were, but the storm was heading South East. So, instead of stopping and finding shelter like the radio suggested, I tested the 90mph+ sustained travel capabilities of the van. It did wonderfully, and we probably made up that lost 45 minutes in my hour-long speeding session. Here’s a diagram of how close we were to the actual storm:

Six or seven more hours of travel tomorrow and we’ll be at our destination of Layton, UT.
